JAKARTA (December 3, 2024) - Tohpati Orchestra collaborated with talented PwDs to perform at the commemoration of IDPD 2024 on Tuesday (03/12/2024). They performed mesmerizingly, accompanying performers who participated in the event held at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM).
As conductor and arranger of the Tohpati Orchestra, Tohpati expressed his appreciation for the performance of four PwDs who performed with him. He emphasized that their participation is proof that disabilities are not a barrier to artistic achievement.
“It’s great to collaborate with PwDs. The event was successful because their performances were impressive and entertaining, like the other players,” said Tohpati after the IDPD 2024 commemoration.
The highlight of the IDPD 2024 involves a collaboration between the Tohpati Orchestra and four musicians. Among the musicians were M. Ade Irawan, a visually impaired pianist and Riefky Dwi Julianto, a blind violinist.
In addition to Ade and Riefky, the audience was mesmerized by a saxophone performance from Made Dwara Abhysma, a musician with an intellectual disability. Meanwhile, Salwa Aris, a physically disabled musician, demonstrated her incredible talent by playing the trumpet with her feet.
Tohpati expressed his joy in working with them, noting their remarkable ability to learn and memorize pieces despite having only four rehearsals together.
According to Tohpati, the biggest challenge was time. He hopes to have more preparation in the future to highlight talented musicians from various regions who have yet to receive recognition.
Music does not discriminate. Therefore, Tohpati advises PwDs who want to pursue music to keep learning and practicing.
“Stay motivated, because music is for everyone. There are no differences. With talent, determination, and consistent practice, great results will surely follow," he concluded.
