JAKARTA (December 2, 2024) The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Sadikin, a talented painter from Malang and an active participant in the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). Sadikin passed away at the age of 58 today at 5:45 p.m. at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta.

The Director of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities, M. O. Royani, stated that Sadikin suddenly collapsed in the lobby of the hotel where he and other participants were staying. MoSA had arranged accommodations for the participants at a hotel located directly across from the IDPD venue, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM).

"It happened around 4:45 p.m. when he was walking back from TIM. He was staying at a hotel right across from the venue. He and his friends were sitting in the lobby, and then, while seated, he suddenly collapsed," Royani recounted on Monday night (2/12/2024).

MoSA’s medical team immediately provided first aid and rushed him to the RSCM emergency room for further treatment, but sadly, he could not be saved. MoSA coordinated with Sadikin's family—his wife, who was with him in Jakarta, and his son, who was in Malang. The family decided that his body would be flown to Malang for the funeral.

"He will be flown back to Malang tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. on a commercial flight," Royani stated. "MoSA will oversee the repatriation process and ensure he is accompanied until the funeral. MoSA will cover all costs, including hospitalization, transportation, repatriation, and funeral expenses."

Royani highlighted that Sadikin was not only an active IDPD participant but also an exceptionally talented artist. Despite being born without hands, he created stunning paintings using his feet. His remarkable contributions to the art world have left a lasting impact, making his passing a great loss not only for his family and close friends but also for the art community and the MoSA family.

"One of his paintings was purchased by Ajik, the owner of a well-known souvenir shop in Bali. Just today, he had even completed two more paintings," Royani added.
