MATARAM (December 2, 2024) – Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) is checking on the condition of IWAS (22), a Person with Disabilities (PwD) who has been named a suspect in a physical harassment case in Mataram, Nusa Tenggara Barat, on Monday (02/12/2024).

"Today, we will visit Iwas to assess his condition," said Yodha Wahdiat Setiawan, First-Level Social Worker at Sentra Paramita Mataram.

IWAS is a person with physical disabilities, having been born without both hands. The Regional Police of NTB named him a suspect after receiving a report of rape. Currently, IWAS is under house arrest.

In response, MoSA, along with a clinical psychologist, is meeting with IWAS and a social companion for the victim to check on their well-being. MoSA will continue to monitor their condition, either directly or through social companions.

Additionally, MoSA is coordinating with the Regional Police of NTB and the Social Office of Mataram City to oversee the ongoing legal process.
