JAKARTA (3 DECEMBER 2024) - The National Disability Commission (KND) held a thanksgiving ceremony to mark the third anniversary of its establishment. The celebration was attended by various parties, including Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono and Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai.

In his remarks, Natalius Pigai underscored the importance of addressing the issues faced by persons with disabilities. “Fifty percent of the country’s focus is directed toward human rights, including the rights of persons with disabilities,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo emphasized, “KND, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and other ministries must work together to empower persons with disabilities,” echoing the directives of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran, Agus expressed hope that various programs’ goals would be achieved through coordinated efforts to uphold the independence of the disability community.

This year’s theme highlights the fact that persons with disabilities possess significant skills and can take part in society in an inclusive and meaningful way. Their lived experiences can be a valuable source of knowledge, ideas, and perspectives.

The event continued with the presentation of KND awards and the signing of the KND Decree on Guidelines and Instruments for Monitoring and Evaluation of Respect, Protection, and Fulfillment of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Others in attendance included Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation Idit Supriadi Priatna, Director of the Anti-Trafficking Task Force at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim POLRI) Brig. Gen. Pol. Dra. Desy Andriani, Chair of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Atnike Nova Sigiro, Assistant Deputy for Business Consultation and Mentoring at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises A.H. Novieta, and other officials.
