JAKARTA (February 3, 2025) - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that he will follow President Prabowo Subianto's decision regarding the refocusing of the ministry's budget. He will map out possible posts for efficiency, so as not to disrupt priority programs.
"God willing, whatever we do will not disrupt the main programs of Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA)," said Gus Ipul, his nickname, Monday (3/1/2025).
He ensured that Ministry of Social Affairs would adjust spending, for example for office stationery (ATK). As for social assistance, he ensured that there would be no cuts.
"So, this Social Assistance is a direct cash transfer. So, nothing is cut by this refocusing," he said.
Gus Ipul said that President Prabowo Subianto would increase the budget for Social Assistance if possible. He ensured that assistance for the people was the president's priority.
"We will reduce are things that can be diverted, related to operations," he said.
He said that President Prabowo is thinking about increasing social assistance for the extremely poor.
"Later, the Secretary General will try which is most possible (efficiency). We will utilize all opportunities so that we can be more efficient," he said.
Previously, Ministry of Social Affairs budget was cut by IDR 1.3 trillion. This is following Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 on Spending Efficiency in the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget and Regional Budget.
