DEMAK (February 3, 2025) – The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) has distributed aid to thousands of residents affected by flooding in Demak Regency, Central Java. The assistance, including ready-to-eat meals, family supplies, and other basic necessities, was dispatched through the social granary of the Demak Regency Social Office starting Saturday (February 1, 2025).

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) emphasized that disaster relief efforts in Demak Regency have been carried out through the MoSA social granary. “We are ensuring that affected communities receive immediate help. Emergency aid has already been distributed through the social granary in Demak,” Gus Ipul stated on Monday (February 3, 2025).

The MoSA aid includes 200 packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 200 children’s meal packages, 200 blankets, 200 family kits, and 200 kids' ware packages. This aid aims to meet the basic needs of 3,133 households, or approximately 12,870 people, affected by flooding in Sayung and Karangtengah districts.

In addition to MoSA support, the local government, through the Regional Budget (APBD) of Demak Regency, has also provided 2,500 kg of rice, 10 boxes of instant noodles, 5 boxes of bottled water, 1 box of cooking oil, and 30 bottles of soy sauce. Aid distribution is being carried out based on the community's needs.

Demak Regency's Social Office and Disaster Response Volunteers (Tagana) have been mobilized to help distribute logistics to flood victims. They are also performing assessments, working with village authorities, and preparing evacuation shelters if necessary. Despite ongoing rainfall, the water level remains between 20 to 40 centimeters, with no reported casualties or displaced persons as of now.

Over the last few days, Demak Regency and nearby areas have had constant severe rainfall, which has created floods. The situation worsened due to tidal flooding from Java's northern coast, which caused overflowing floods to engulf residential areas. The affected districts of Sayung and Karangtengah include Kalisari Village, Sayung Village, Batu Village, Rejosari Village, Wonokerto Village, and Wonowoso Village.

MoSA remains committed to being present in disaster-affected areas, providing both logistical and moral assistance. “We are not only distributing aid but also ensuring that every affected resident receives proper protection and attention,” Gus Ipul added.

It is hoped that with excellent cooperation among the central government, local authorities, and volunteers, recovery efforts will proceed swiftly, allowing residents to resume their daily activities as soon as possible.
