JAKARTA (December 3, 2024) – A spirit of inclusivity and togetherness filled Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/12) as Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) commemoration, hosted by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The event welcomed over 850 guests, including members of the disability community, ministers, and public figures. The celebration began with a series of artistic performances, including the traditional Saman dance, which received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

In his speech, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the importance of fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities. "Persons with disabilities (PwD) deserve greater attention, stronger support, and active involvement in planning, infrastructure, and public transportation. Accessibility must be expanded," Gibran stated.

As part of the event, Vice President Gibran, alongside Minister of Social Affairs Syaifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), presented awards to six individuals with disabilities in recognition of their dedication and achievements in academics, careers, information technology, arts, and sports.

Following the awards ceremony, Gibran and Gus Ipul took time to pose for photos with the award recipients and other guests.

IDPD serves as a reminder to society that individuals with disabilities have equal standing and opportunities to contribute meaningfully.

"This shouldn't just be a ceremonial event, but a turning point for building a supportive and productive ecosystem for PwD(s)," Gibran concluded.
